Long Paddy's House

We'll the summer's nearly over. I've been reading back over the previous posts and there's quite a lot of information in there. So here's a photo to brighten things up. This is the house where Long Paddy and his family lived in Aghlem.

Hi,
My name is Claire and I am from Pleasantville, NY which is a small town about 30 miles north of New York City. My paternal grandmother was Elizabeth McCadden. She came to NY when she was around twenty years old. I know her mother was Mary Kelly and she had a sister Grace Hanna.
Elizabeth married Kenneth South (from Wales)and they had eight children. My father Kenneth, Jr was their eldest. His brother is Owen South.
It is interesting reading about the McCaddens of Donnegal.
Thank you for putting this all together for us to read.

Thanks Claire,

You may find this link interesting:

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie

It contains the 1911 census records for Ireland which can help in finding ancestors. I did find this record of a Lizzie with father Owen and mother Mary:

I think that this may be your grandmother's family. There is no mention of Grace in the 1911 census, but she had already emigrated to America from Auglem (Aughlin) in 1910 according to the Ellis Island records;

Thanks Mike. I appreciate the information about the other websites.
I do think these are my ancestors. I remember my grandmother Elizabeth telling me that she was born on a ship in Scotland because her family was returning to Ireland after being in the US for awhile. She then stayed in Ireland until she was a young adult and then joined her sister Grace in NY.
